Photos - Wings of liberation Best
Wings of Liberation located in Best in the South of the Netherlands is a museum park originally dedicated to the aircraft that helped liberate the Netherlands. Over time the collection grew and items from different theme’s were added. There are also some interesting items on display for those interested in the GDR and the USSR.
A whole museum building is now dedicated to Operation Barbarossa, Hitler’s invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. The Operation Barbarossa exhibition features a T-34/85 tank, ZiS-3 field gun, diorama’s of the Battle for Berlin, various Soviet World War II uniforms and other Red Army exhibits. There is also a section dedicated to the Berlin Wall with East German border guards placed near the Wall. Outside is a Czechoslovakian build VT-34 recovery tank based on a T-34 frame on display. During our visit there still was a MiG-21UM two seater on display, this aircraft is now sold as it did not fit in the collection.
